The Devon Valley Hotel

Very enjoyable and relaxing supported by extremely helpful staff

Pros: Location, very peaceful. Supportive staff when not at breakfast

Cons: Service at breakfast was very chaotic on 2 of the 4 mornings we stayed there. We were frequently given incorrect drinks and often these were in paper cups as china cups had run out. This is not what I would expect from such a lovely hotel

A good stay for what we wanted

Pros: A lovely relaxed setting in the gardens away from the busy town but close enough to be there in no time!

Cons: The staff were all very friendly but perhaps need some better work flow systems in the dining room. Dinner was ok but not exceptional.

Great stay

Pros: The room was comfortable, clean and a good size. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Very enjoyable

Pros: We had a lovely supper in the bar. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed it. The room was spacious and had a view. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful stay.

Cons: The design of the bathroom was poor. The hooks for hanging your dressing gown and the towel rail were in the shower almost under the rain shower head, so they would have got soaked and there was nowhere else to hang your towel near the shower. There were no facecloths in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, but there was only a duvet, no top sheet. the weather was hot and so the duvet was not an option. The mosquitoes were insistent but there was no mosquito oven or anything like that. Under the rules for 4 star rating in RSA, this hotel did not meet the requirement.

A peaceful country hotel close to Stellenbosch and Cape Town

Pros: The view of the valley from our room was exceptional. We loved the peace and quiet here. The restaurant served excellent food and the portions were always far too big for us! The gardens and the pool below the hotel were a peaceful place to pass the time. The hotel is also very close to central Stellenbosch (with a car). We have already booked again.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Beautiful views of the Devon Valley, with close proximity to the Stellenbosch restaurants and wine farms. This is our 2nd visit and the staff remembered us and greeted my family with arms wide open. Recommend the double garden rooms as they are spacious. Made a last minute Sunday lunch booking for our family visiting from Australia, and they were more than happy to accommodate the large group.

Cons: Everything was 100%

We loved our stay (visiting with children).

Pros: Stylish interior, gorgeous setting with beautiful views over vineyards, beautiful gardens, good food, friendly staff. Romantic. Rooms were decent size.

Cons: Pool area was a bit neglected.

Pros: Gorgeous quaint boutique hotel, central location perfect for sightseeing. The restaurant is good. Staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. Clean, tranquil setting, breathtaking views. Cannot recommend it enough!

Cons: Wooden floors in the rooms are quite loud and creaky and in the hallway but does not distract from the overall ambience

A wonderful stay with friendly, attentive staff who made me feel at home.

Pros: I just have to say how impressed I am with the staff here. They’re genuinely friendly, quick to respond to calls and requests, and always attentive. They handle things promptly, listen carefully, and even keep the atmosphere light and happy with their warm personalities. It’s rare to see a team that combines professionalism with such kindness and fun energy

Cons: Honestly, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like

Pros: The restaurant served great food. The bar staff were friendly

Cons: Our room was quite noisy, and there was a huge couch taking up space in what otherwise was a lovely spacious room, made room feel small
