Situated amongst vineyards, the Vrede en Lust manor house dates back to 1688 and has been converted into elegant cottages with open fireplaces. The extensive gardens include an outdoor pool. Free Wi-Fi is provided. The air-conditioned house and cottages each contain a lounge with original features such as wooden floors and chandeliers, as well as a flat-screen TV. They all have modern private bathrooms and boast views over the surrounding countryside. An enjoyable overnight stay, but it felt rather commercialised.

Pros: Peaceful and relaxing with a lovely pool area. Comfortable rooms with great views towards the mountains. Beautifully kept grounds and buildings.

Cons: We ate dinner and breakfast in the Savoye restaurant. Lovely setting but we’ve had better food during our Western Cape travels. Service was good, but the food was average. The pasta meal was rather dry and the eggs benedict at breakfast were absolutely smothered in sauce which had to be scraped off.

Pros: It is a stunning place. Old meets modern in an ideal way. We had a lovely cottage with a lot of space and the details of the cottage were creating this homely ambiance. We had wine tasting (included in the price) on the lovely terrace of the vineyard (great wines by the way). We enjoyed swimming in the pool and having breakfast on the terrace next to the pool.

Cons: ALL WAS GOOD - zero critique.

Pros: Vrede En Lust is an exquisite location where the staff are all so kind, the breakfast was delicious and the rooms are immaculate.

Comfortable stay with friendly and hospitable staff.

Pros: Cosy and comfortable with a great view. Enjoyed the sweet little chocolates and bedtime notes.

Cons: The floor wasn’t swept when we returned in the afternoon although everything else was cleaned by housekeeping. Only one teaspoon between two guests.

Amazing wine estate stay

Pros: Beautiful estate, kind and helpful people, relaxing vibe. Bikes availability and space to cycle was great.

Cons: Minor details could be improved, the fridge was constantly leaking and the pool water in the afternoon was a bit oily, I guess it'd be solved with a mid day extrs cleaning.

Relaxt, cosy, clean and comfortable stay at Vrede en Lust

Pros: Great and beautiful estate with cosy cottages, nice gardens, pleasant refreshing pool, delicious breakfast and great service at the reception. Daily cleaning of the room, making up the bed and refreshing the towels.

Cons: The sweet breakfast consists of one croissant and one cupcake. This could be a bit more original. A small welcoming bottle of wine from the estate in the room would be a nice gesture.
