Le Pommier Wine Estate

Located on Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, Le Pommier Wine Estate is set amongst the vineyards overlooking the Banhoek Valley. It offers a restaurant. An accommodation we’d return to

Pros: Beautiful location surrounded by mountains and wineries. Lovely clean pool including blankets. Great breakfast. Mattress was perfect to sleep on.

Cons: The big light of the room wasn’t working.

Surprise Engagement in the Banhoek valley

Pros: The staff were exceptional. Our daughter was getting engaged as a surprise and a special mention to Juanita and Marilee who went the extra mile to make it special for them. Juanita took lots of extra photos and Marilee oversaw the catering for us. All the staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for anyone from the restaurant staff to the maids who cleaned the bedrooms daily. Such a lovely memory for our group which we will never forget.

A luxury stay right in the middle of the wine lands

Pros: The staff were delightful. Murencia served us wine while we were waiting to check in (every hotel reception take note!) She also did an excellent wine tasting for us and served breakfast another day. All with a smile. Juanita was also very kind, helpful and great fun! The suite was spacious and luxurious.

Cons: There is a main road nearby but this did not affect our most enjoyable stay

Idyllic stay amongst the vineyards and mountains

Pros: Beautiful location (mountains and vineyards). Venue has a lot to offer from wine tasting to a swimming pool and lovely restaurant.

Pros: The place is extremely beautiful. It’s a vineyard and you can easily access any neighbouring yard by car. The kitchen is nice. The hosts are very welcome

Cons: I don’t like the limitations we had. For example the vine testing was complementary but not the food paring. The breakfast is included but croissant you have to pay for. I mean I am definitely ready to pay for it and it’s very tasty but I prefer to pay more for accommodation to not discuss that it’s included and it’s not. Not critical at all but fixing it may improve the overall impression

Beautiful and cozy estate

Pros: Excellent wine estate with beautiful views from the back garden. Great service and amazing staff . Would highly recommend it . Big rooms where you have everything you need. Feels cozy and like home. Great food and service at the restaurant . This place made my stay in South Africa amazing. I've travelled a lot and rarely felt so welcome as at Le Pommier . Excellent location to visit other estates and spas.

Pros: A lovely location with a beautiful view. It is on the wine tour bus extension to the tram. We enjoyed the complimentary tasting. The restaurant was not open on Sunday evening when we arrived but they arranged a booking for us at their sister wine estate, Zorgvliet, 2 minutes drive away and the meal was excellent. Breakfast was excellent.

The staff elevated our stay to exceptional.

Pros: The facilities were very comfortable but the exceptional aspect of our stay were the staff. Every single member of staff we met were delightful; their accommodation to our needs ( lifts to nearby wineries, late check out etc) was the best we’ve ever experienced. Special shout out to Jasmine & Candice.
