Grand Lux Boutique Manor

Pros: Thank you to all of the staff that made my brief stay at The Grand Lux so wonderful. The hotel is beautiful, made even better by the amazing staff. Thank you again!

I think the hotel should be advertised as a B&B, as I think at present it’s misleading.

Pros: The hotel is lovely and clean and great sea views. Good secure parking and you feel safe as well. Breakfast was good, albeit a bit slow but that’s due to everything being done fresh for you. Staff are nice. Pool area is nice but small with only 4 sun loungers.

Cons: When turning up we asked about dinner that evening to be told that you have to have booked by 10am on the day and the restaurant was very busy already. As we explained that nothing is mentioned in the booking details, or the text that they sent sending you their pin location and welcoming early that morning, we were surprised to learn this. They explained that everything is shopped for and cooked fresh that day therefore that is their reason behind this. Anyway the hotel agreed to allow us for dinner that evening but we must choose and pay straight away, 550 rand each. Not knowing on a Saturday night if we could get in anywhere else we did this. There is a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 deserts. We arrived for our booking at 8pm to find we were the only people who were dining. The food was ok. What we did notice for the next 3 days the menu never changed. On our last morning we spoke to 2 other sets of residents who also said they found the evening set up very strange and therefore they hadn’t eaten in the restaurant.

Pros: The Staff were very friendly helpful and attentive.

Cons: We thought the Staff could relax more every thing was very formal.

Wonderful

Pros: Staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Clearly had so much pride for what they do and the service aspect especially. Thembi was superb and was so helpful and thoughtful looking after my daughter when she’d been unwell all day. She went out of her way to check on her , squeeze her fresh juice, and more. The hotel is a beautiful old style with some incredible luxurious old Hollywood style touches from many years gone by.

Cons: I’d say whilst we had the most incredible view from our rooms it was just that bit too far out to really enjoy the main high street and restaurants without driving there.

Relaxing place to stay with great views and coastal path

Pros: Great view. Location right beside the cliff walkway. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great personal attention. Took a room with sea view and it was great. Nice town. Char’d Grill steakhouse was really excellent. Good place to relax

A very pleasant experience otherwise

Pros: Lovely & spacious. Beautifully furnished very comfortable .

Cons: Was rather annoyed at being told I would have to pay to leave my cases for a few hours after check out. Thought this was a poor shot!!

Outstanding stay at a top 5 star hotel, will definitely return soon

Pros: The staff were outstanding and our happiness was very important to them. The room was amazing. Very comfortable and classy. The views from our room overlooking the sea were breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious.

Amazing!

Pros: We had such a great time and can not thank the amazing staff enough! It felt like we were visiting friends. Our room was incredible and we can now wait to come back next year! Highly recommended!!

Cons: The fact we had to leave!

Great comfort and nurturing

Pros: The Presidential suite was opulent and huge. Highest quality. So much space. The furniture heavy and outdated and didnt fit the seaside vibe of area but it ticked the box for us.

Cons: See above .. plus not enough staff. Only one person on duty last night when the lights fused. It was fixed but a lot to put on shoulders of one person.

The most perfect stay

Pros: Our first time in Hermanus, we travelled from the UK and came here after spending New Years in Cape Town. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and given a tour of the house, our room exceeded our expectations with a jacuzzi bath and the most perfect view of Hermanus and the sea, we slept listening to the crashing waves it was just heaven. Breakfast was fabulous with all the possible options you could need. An easy walk into town with lots of shops and restaurants, you can take the road way or the coastal path which is easily accessible. All the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you. We are very sad to leave.
