Muratie Wine Estate

A relaxing stay on a beautiful wine estate with great food and wine.

Pros: A beautiful setting, the room was spacious and quirky as it used to be an artist studio. The food was exceptional,the staff were friendly and welcoming

Unforgettable place

Pros: I don't have a few words to describe our experience. Everything was perfect! Atmosphere, lunch, wine, sunset, landscape, the friendliest stuff. This night was one of the most memorable parts of South African trip. I know for sure I’ll be back as soon as possible.

Cons: The end of the fairy tale 🥲

Muratie, a top destination.

Pros: Muratie is such a beautiful wine estate. And the cottage, what a pleasure to stay there. We will definitely come back next year.

Cons: Maybe two nice chairs on the terrace from the cottage. We took some chairs from the restaurant, but just two nice chairs for the terrace would be perfect.

Pros: We loved our stay at Muratie, everything was perfect (wine, food, room, staff). We'll be definitely back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Wonderfully unique former artist’s studio

Pros: The cottage had great character and charm, having been the art studio of the former owner of the Muratie wine estate. And felt like a piece of history containing a small library, antique furniture and the accoutrements of the artist. The bed was divinely comfortable. We had booked a wine tasting (expertly delivered by Alice) and this was included in the cost of the room) as was a delicious breakfast which we ate in the shade overlooking the vineyards. The whole experience was welcoming and warm.

Love the fireplace

Pros: The breakfast and lunch from restaurant were fab. Lovely gift shop and art gallery in winery too.

Cons: Cosy and rustic place,however, can get bit cold in the winter.

A lovely way to experience a Stellenbosch winery

Pros: We had a wonderful couple of nights at Muratie. During the day we did a short hike in the woods on the other side of the valley (an hour or so walking) and then combined the complementary wine tasting with lunch on the terrace. The evenings were chilly but there were electric heaters in the bedroom and we had a roaring fire in the lounge so were very comfortable. All of the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about Muratie’s history, which is extensive and fascinating.

Cons: The only drawback (and it is a very slight one) is that the restaurant isn’t open for dinner, so you need to make plans. After a big lunch we were happy with some snacks that we had brought with us and the kitchenette is well enough equipped to cook a meal.

Would love to stay here again.

Pros: Lovely spacious cottage with beautiful vintage and antique furniture. The bed was very comfy. The setting is beautiful, and very private (once the kitchen closes). It's a great place to enjoy the gorgeous sunset with some wine.

Excellent stay

Pros: Wonderful stay. The scenery and views are gorgeous., really nice breakfast, and the pool was a lovely treat. The location is excellent and the people were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
