An excellent hotel
Pros: We booked one night at the Grande Roche, but extended our stay as we were not feeling well. The hotel and staff were absolutely excellent and supportive. They kindly booked another night for us and did everything they could to make our stay as nice as possible. We can’t thank them enough.

Beautiful Hotel with fantastic views
Pros: We loved our upgraded room Merlot 33 a Terrace Suite. The pools were lovely and dining on the terrace was perfect with the amazing view and delicious food. Lovely staff and beautiful grounds.
Cons: The floating sunbeds which crowded the pool and looked a bit grubby. Lighting near the wardrobes in the bedroom and over the mirror was very dim. Had to do my make up in the bathroom. Hinges on fridge door could be changed to the left side for easier access. Better to leave shower mats in the bathroom rather than put them in the bathroom during turndown service when we've already showered and used a hand towel as a shower mat!

5 Star Excellence
Pros: Grande Roche deserves every one of its 5 stars. The Legacy rooms in what used to be the old coach house of this historic wine farm have been refurbished, are spacious, tastefully decorated with modern touches, and very comfortable. Welcoming touches such as complimentary wine from the estate, chocolate chip cookies, coffee/tea machine, milk (not creamer) were much appreciated. The gardens on the estate were lush and immaculate, the sparkling swimming pool area with spa was an oasis in mid-summer, and breakfast, lunch and dinner on the verandah with a view across the vineyard to the Paarl mountains are an absolute treat. All this enhanced by every single staff member who went out of their way to make our stay as special as it was.
Cons: 5 star luxury comes at a price, and unfortunately for South Africans, even the cost of a 1 night stay is beyond the means of most. However, for visitors earning £, $ or €, the hotel offers world-class luxury that is very affordable.

Highly recommended
Pros: We simply loved everything about our stay at Grande Roche Hotel. Ranging from the breakfast, quality and view from the terrace where it is served is amazing, to the equipment and the design of the rooms and the whole estate. We really appreciated the fact that playing tennis and pickle ball is included as well as there is a turndown service. Thanks to the whole stuff! You are all amazing!

A sanctuary of charm and sophistication
Pros: This is a really classy beautifully laid out old fashioned hotel. Service is exceptional, attentive without being intrusive. Food is brilliant, and although the restaurant is famous for dinner the breakfast was to die for. Evening cocktails were great too.
Cons: Visiting in October the unheated pools were still a little too chilly to enjoy.
